I had the entire week before Christmas off of work. It was great! Travis only had a few days off (he had the week off but because of his surgery he had to give a few days back.) Monday we all hung out at home. We had planned to head back from my parent's house on Monday, but because of an impending snow storm we came back early. It was so nice to sleep in and just relax.
Tuesday Papa Schoer came to see us and we went out to lunch. It was great to spend a couple of hours with him and to exchange presents. That evening was a little less exciting. Tessa ended up with a double ear infection. I was really happy that she started to go down hill after Papa had left.
Wednesday Tessa and I hit up the mall for some last minute shopping. She was FANTASTIC with no nap and being sick. She enjoyed cruising through the stores and watching the other shoppers.
Thursday afternoon started our Dillinger family Christmas celebration (more on that tomorrow).
Christmas Eve the whole family headed over to Keystone for Christmas at Travis's grandma's house. It was a crappy drive but we were all happy to have gone to see all the family. There are several kids around Tessa's age. They RAN and RAN through the house playing together. When we got home that night Tessa and I baked cookies for Santa. She was pretty excited to bake her Frosty cookies for him and even more excited to set out a plate for him. We also put Reindeer food out in the front yard so that they could find our house!
Christmas morning we slept in and then had a blast opening presents from Santa. I cooked my very first turkey! (we had originally gotten it to have Thanksgiving but because of Travis's surgery we postponed cooking it). I was pretty excited about cooking it successfully! Craving it was a whole other story...that night we did our final round of looking at Christmas lights. (we had been out several nights before this. Tessa loves the lights and all the wood cut out figures around town.)
On the 26th, our last day home, Nana Schoer came to visit us. We enjoyed a lunch of Panera and hung out all day.
It was a great week off. Something I think we all really needed!
