Welcome Home Dillinger Family, Welcome Home.
We are finally home! (well we have been since May1st, but since I just started the site it felt proper to start off with being home).
Travis commented when we left the hospital about wanting Ty Pennington and the whole neighborhood out to welcome us...we really wanted to yell move that bus. Ty and the whole neighborhood weren't there, but Tessa's Grandma and Grandpa Toft and Lucky (our puppy) were there with open arms to welcome us home.
It feels great to be home. Baby and parents are doing great (even with the extreme lack of sleep). Lucky is a protective watch dog. Everytime she cries Lucky is right there to make sure she is ok. She seems curious and I am guessing is patiently waiting until the baby leaves. But she does very well with her, even at 2 in the morning when she is crying hysterically! Lucky has not barked at her once.
We have had so many visitors already. Of course all the grandparents have been here and were with us at the hospital. Grandma and Grandpa Schoer were down and left shortly before we headed home. Grandma and Grandpa Toft stayed a few extra days to help us out. Uncle Nick drove down and held a non-crying baby for almost an hour!! Grandma and Grandpa Dillinger have been in and out most days after school (and sometimes on the way back from a conference just before returning to teach in the afternoon). Uncle Crystal (Tosh), Aunt Crystal, and Cousin Greta also stopped in to see us at the hopsital and at home. We also had several friends stop at the hospital and at home to see us. We LOVE visitors, although we may scream and cry when they get here...we do love to see everyone!
We did have our first doctor's appointment yesterday. She is already past her birth weight at 10 lbs 4 oz. She eats very well and has a great sleep pattern (except between 11 and 2...). The doctor said she is doing fantastic and was really surprised that I gave birth to a 10 lb baby! She said that I got extra bonus points for that.
We also had our first outing the other day. We ate lunch at Panera and hit up Target for the walk through. Of course we had to introduce her to our favorite shopping stop! She is a very good shopped (not sure if that is a good thing for future years), but she handles the store very well. Of course it is hard for mom and dad to walk by all the adorable baby clothes and not pick up a cute outfit or two. Thank goodness Grandma Toft was there to stop the madness!
Well that is all for now. Tess is down for a nap and I am thinking it may be time for a mommy nap as well!
