Tessa Update

It has been awhile since I wrote about Tessa and what she is up to. This will probably be long, and without pictures...

So far two has been a difficult but fun year! They don't joke about the terrible twos! Tessa is definitely very independent, which I love. But hate because it takes twice as long to do normal activities. She has developed an opinion on her clothes and will throw a fit if she gets put in something she doesn't like. Right now she down right refuses to wear jeans...(apparently I didn't like wearing jeans until I was in about second grade as well). I have learned to let go of outfits not matching...this was a hard fight for me to deal with. But it is just much easier to let her wear pink pants with a blue shirt...

Tessa enjoys watching Disney movies. We keep a couple different movies on our phones for her to watch. She already knows that Cinderella is on my phone and The Little Mermaid is on Travis's phone. Just recently she has started to comment on the movie (Run Sebastian!) and sing along with the theme music (You've got a friend in me from Toy Story is one of her favorites).

Back in July (I should have blogged this much earlier) we stopped using her binky. She had initially thrown one away to turn around that night and have a major meltdown. We broke down and gave it back to her (not the one in the garbage, but a different one). A week later, she came downstairs and threw it away again. This time we held strong. She went to bed right away that night with no questions. The next night was a little harder. She cried for about five minutes but went to sleep. That weekend was Fourth of July and we headed up to my parents. We didn't bring one and she hasn't asked for it since (well she has asked for it, but accepts the fact that she won't get one. No tantrums-not even one).

Tessa vocab is amazing. She really does carry on a conversation with you as if she is an adult. She will repeat everything you say (which is good and bad.) She definitely even knows how to use certain words in the right context. I love how she has started to talk to her "buddies" and how she plays now. Daycare is even amazed at how well she talks. She knows all the kids' names in her class, and the classes above her. She is definitely a social butterfly.

She has also developed a love for dance. (no surprise from this mommy!) She has an elmo book that came with a radio that plays different nursery songs. She will turn it on and dance around the living room. She has some skill! Again, hopefully I can get this on video soon.

And to the excitement of Travis, Tess has also started to love shooting hoops and hitting the softball. She is actually pretty good! Her eye coordination is pretty good. She hits the ball off the fly already. And we think she is going to be a lefty.

Tessa love for green vegetables seems to have tappered off. She still does not love anything chocolate, but will now eat fruit snacks. She has started to eat cake--but it must be without any frosting. I am still not sure if I should be happy or disappointed in this. She is still obsessed with hot dogs. And loves pizza.

Tessa still loves to read her books. Now we will find her sitting in front of her book trunk with several books out in front of her. She has a couple of the books memorized and will "read" them to herself or her "buddy". She loves the Dora book about going to the beach. The other day I was in the kitchen and she said "Vamos. Let's go swimming!" I took a peek and sure enough that was the page she was on.

Tessa and Lucky are still best friends. Tessa loves to pet Lucky and loves to give her kisses. I am glad that Lucky is still very calm with her. Tessa loves to play fetch with her toys as well, although Lucky doesn't always bring the toy back to Tessa.

That seems to be about it for now. (ok, one picture just because you made it this far) Happy Monday!
