Last week she was sick pretty much all week. Travis took her to the doctor on Tuesday after spending Monday at home and going home early from daycare on Tuesday. She had a weird spiking fever. Turns out she also had an ear infection and a nasty cough. We kept her home on Wednesday as well just for good measure. She went back to daycare on Thursday but got to spend Friday home with mom, Grandma Toft, and Papa Toft. (more on that visit later this week). She seems to be feeling better (evident with the couch jumping and chasing Lucky).
You did read in the previous paragraph that Tessa has had yet another ear infection. This brings our total to 1,200,001 (exagerration as we have lost count). We do have a year check up with our ENT on the 23rd. Hopefully he will have some answers for us on what we can do next.
As I mentioned (if you have forgotten already) Tess will be 2 in about a month. We are already planning the big bash. But in the midst of the party planning and tantrums (mommy and Tessa style) we are also trying to transition Tessa to some big girl activities. Potty training, getting rid of the binky, and a toddler bed. Three of the hardest things I have done in my life. It is so easy to cave when the screaming ensues. Anyone who says it goes without a fight is probably lieing or just "forgot" how hard it was to not give in.
Potty Training: She really isn't doing it yet. We do sit her on the potty everytime we change her diaper (as does daycare). But she hasn't done it yet. She does recognize when she goes in her diaper and when she is stinky. We are taking this one slow. No need to rush and freak her out, right?
Getting rid of the binky: This WAS going well until we started to get some teeth and had the ear infection. We had a little set back but seem to be getting back on the right track. She had been getting the binky only in her bed. She is starting to get VERY attached to her blanket so I am hoping we can replace one with the other. If not, at the time she turns two she will just go cold turkey.
Transition to the toddler bed: Travis decided one day that it was just time for a change. She was really excited about seeing the bed. She loves to climb in and out of the bed. The first night she was too exhausted to realize she wasn't in her crib. The second night was a little more difficult. The third night was less difficult. Luckily, she knows that when we say goodnight she knows she isn't to be getting out of bed anymore. Hopefully it stays that way! For good keeping though, we do baby gate her door closed at night time. {UPDATE this morning: well after I posted this last night, at 10 PM she started screaming and ran to the door. She ended up in bed with us for about an hour. After which I put her back in her bed and she stayed there all night. Hopefully tonight goes better. We are guessing she had a scary dream and just got scared.}
Below are some pictures of Tessa in her toddler bed. This was taken at nap time on Sunday. Enjoy and Happy Tuesday!
