Christmas (times 6!)

We had a packed week off. We were on vacation but never really settled down! BE prepared for a long recap...

On the 20th we celebrated Christmas with the Tofts. We got to spend the weekend with my brothers, parents, and the new members of the Toft family Kris and Lilly! (Happy belated engagement-it happened over Thanksgiving!) We played lots of Mexican Train (it is a dominos game). It got a little heated there but it wouldn't be a game night with the Toft/Dillingers without a little competition, right? Tessa enjoyed passing out gifts to the family, getting almost all of the gifts to the correct receipent. She was a little shy at first barely tearing the paper away. Then she saw him. The love of her life...ELMO! He has become one of her tag alongs since she saw him. It was a great weekend with my family. As always, it was a little short and we had to head home...

On the 23rd we hit up the Dillinger Family Christmas. Holidays at the Dillinger House become an all day event. Usually eating WAY to much food and relaxing in the basement or upstairs watching holiday movies or playing Wii. This time around we broke out the cards and played 7 up 7 Down (I think that is what it is called...). Again, much trash talking and healthy banter was exchanged (I still firmly believe that Jetra made me take more than I bid almost everytime...score keepers always cheat). Again, Tessa loved helping pass out the gifts. The girls (Tessa and Greta) opened their gifts first and then fought over who got to play with Greta's toys! Tessa met her second love and her other tag along...Big Bird! She carries both BB and Elmo around just about everywhere. The girls were very interested in the BOX that G's Dora house came in. They played in it until it was destroyed...which with wrestle-mania it didn't take too long.

On the 24th we headed over to Helen's house (Travis's mom's mom....Grandma Jurgens). We again ate way too much and had tons of fun with family. (I am kicking myself that I didn't have my camera) This side of the family loves to laugh and joke around with each other. Stories were shared and everyone laughed as Uncle Po talked in his sleep--a regular occurance at all family events with the Jurgens. (I hope to get it on video one day if he doesn't hurt me and post it.) We headed out with Grandma in tow and drove through horrible icy roads. It wouldn't be a family outing without some adventure. Thanks to Captain Rick we made it home safe. It was dicey a couple of times...

On Christmas Day we stayed home (I am not sure that we would have gotten anywhere anyway...). Santa arrived early and left presents for Tessa. She was uninterested...it took about 30 minutes to get her to open anything....I think she was Christmased out...We did get some video of her opening her gifts and playing later in the day.

On the 26th Nana and Papa Schoer came down to visit. Tessa was excited to see them and shy all at the same time. She loved Papa this time. Giving him fives and showing him her colors. She got some good hugs from Nana and some good coloring time.  Travis got some new digs for his bike so he and Terry (Papa) took the bikes out for a winter ride. They weren't gone very long. Thankfully no one took a spill on the ice! It waas a quick visit as both the Schoers and the Dillingers had to head out early the next morning.

On the 27th the Dillingers loaded up the cars again and headed out for dinner with Rick's parents and sister and her family. It was good to see everyone. Tessa enjoyed running around the restaurant and "visiting" the singing Santa in the coat area.

Overall it was a hectic week off, but so worth seeing ALL our family. I really feel blessed at this time of year. After last year's craziness I am glad that we were all healthy, able to sleep in our own beds, and together. Here are some pictures from all our events.
